On March 22, ESD 112 rolled out the virtual red carpet for the 2023 Southwest Washington Regional High School Art Show. Featuring an introduction by ESD 112 Superintendent Tim Merlino and Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction Superintendent Chris Reykdal this year’s virtual presentation features all of the award-winning pieces, and the opportunity to hear from some of the participating student artists. CHS/MST senior Paige Frawley was among those honored for her work in ceramics! Congrats, Paige!
“Student participants demonstrated exceptional skill, originality, and emotion in their work,” said Tim Merlino, superintendent of ESD 112. “The Regional High School Art Show is a testament to the fact that art and creative expression are instrumental in the education and development of young people.”
Winners of the Regional Awards will compete against entries from around Washington State in the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) Art Show, celebrating 50 years of the annual student art competition, taking place on May 30 at Benaroya Hall in downtown Seattle.
All student artists who were recognized with an award in this year’s Art Show also received scholarships from the Department of Art + Design at Central Washington University, and/or Pacific Northwest College of Art.
We hope you enjoy this year’s virtual awards presentation, and check out the online gallery featuring all of the artwork submitted to this year’s Southwest Washington Regional High School Art Show at www.esd112.org/artshow/
