Senior Alaya Mays Statebound in POL!

Camas High School recently held its school contest for Poetry Out Loud during finals week.  Some 40 students from the individual classroom competitions met that morning to recite poems they had selected and interpreted. Eight of those 40 advanced to the finals, and three of those eight were MST Magnet students. Sophomores Chloe Higgins, Thomas Hull, and senior Alaya Mays all performed admirably in the final round, but Alaya Mays came out on top, winning the school competition for the third year in a row!

Alaya competed in the regional round at ESD 112 the next week and took top honors, winning a trip to the state competition. Congratulations, Alaya! We wish you the best of luck in the upcoming state competition. Read all about her journey in this recent Camasonian article: Poetry Out Loud Statebound Champion
