Ashland Shakespeare Field Trip

What: Field trip to see productions of Guys and Dolls and Much Ado about Nothing, participate in a “prologue” workshop for Much Ado and another workshop the following morning covering the plays we see.

Where:  Ashland, Oregon, site of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.  We have booked the entire Ashland Commons youth hostel for Thursday night’s lodging.

Who:  53 freshmen through senior year Magnet students, and 3-4 faculty/parent chaperones

When:  Depart on Camas School District bus Friday, 9/18 at 5:30 AM (loading at 5:15 AM); return to CHS on Saturday 9/19 by approximately 5-6:00 PM.

Costs/Spending Money:

  • To cover the cost of lodging, transportation, plays, and workshops, each participant has paid $145
  • Additional spending money for food (approximately 3-4 other meals) and incidentals should be budgeted.  Most students should count on spending, as a general guideline, about 10 dollars per meal.
  • Saturday morning’s breakfast will hopefully be provided by parent donations for a light, continental style breakfast at the hostel.  Visit this link to sign up for donations: Snack and Breakfast Donations

Miscellaneous:  To further reduce costs, students must bring their own sleeping bag and towels as needed.  Pillows and extra quilts and blankets are provided, but some students may possibly wish to bring a favorite pillow or blanket, if so desired.  Some students may wish to dress up for the theater performances, but there is no special requirement for this other than the CHS dress code.
