College Admissions Notifications (What to do?)

Mrs. Liebe, our esteemed counselor, passes on some vital info in this season of college admissions:

“Happy New Year greetings to you! I hope this email finds you healthy and well.

College admission decision letters are rolling in on a steady basis for many students. This is both a highly anticipated and nerve-wrecking time for students and families. Often we have a clear understanding of letters that offer acceptance and rejections, yet offers of deferral and wait-listing can be confusing to understand.

Receiving an offer of deferral or wait-listing is not necessarily a sign of rejection, it often comes with notification that the applicant will be reviewed at least once more. Please know that should you receive a letter of deferral or wait-listing, and this is a school at the top of the student’s list, I recommend the student take quick action by contacting the school to express continued interest. I have enclosed a link to an article that offers additional suggestions on how to handle this process.”
