MIT Beaver Works Summer Institute

The Camas MST program is a member of the National Consortium of Specialized Secondary Schools. Through our membership in this program, you have the opportunity to take online coursework, as well as possibly get involved in their summer institute. Check it out:

“We are excited to announce that NCSSS and MIT, with its unique engineering summer camp Beaver Works, will expand our partnership in 2017. This unique member benefit is a great experience for NCSSS member school students.  During the summer of 2016, 22 Consortium member school students attended a four-week residential STEM program at MIT. Students gained valuable experience programming and racing an autonomous mini car.

Program offerings have been expanded for 2017. MIT is offering online courses that prepare students to program their own autonomous car, autonomous air vehicle or to build their own cognitive assistant. These online courses are FREE of charge and open to all staff and students at any of the NCSSS member schools. See the 2017 brochure.

Students who are successful in the online courses will be invited to apply for an invitation to MIT Beaver Works Summer Institute. Twenty students from NCSSS member schools will receive a full scholarship to attend the four-week program July 10-Aug. 4. Schools may also send teams to the capstone competition Aug. 5-6.

Registration for the online courses will begin soon. The first online course begins Monday, Dec. 19, with rolling enrollment. Students may join the first online course through January. Check out the full program brochure. If you have any questions, please email bwsi2017-info@mit.edu.”
